This hotel is located on the edge of the former university city of Franeker, characterised by beautiful canals, professors’ residences and so-called Frisian ‘stinzen’.

The capital of the province of Fryslân, Leeuwarden, is situated 20 kilometres east, but the picturesque port Harlingen and the Wadden Islands are also worth paying a visit.

Tulip Inn De Valk is easily accessible and offers a variety of leisure activities, though business meetings can be arranged as well.

Tulip Inn De Valk Franeker has 42 guest rooms which are divided into 3 different types: Comfort, Deluxe and Superior. All of these have wireless internet access (prepaid cards are available at the reception desk) a shower or bath, toilet, hairdryer, TV and telephone.

There are 30 Comfort rooms equipped with the above.

All 4 Deluxe rooms have a Rain Dance shower, minibar and a small balcony.

All 8 Superior rooms have a larger TV (57cm), minibar and a larger surface area compared to the Deluxe rooms. One of the Superior rooms is the honeymoon suite. Instead of a shower or bath, this room has a jacuzzi. Here, you can sleep under the stars and awake to breakfast in bed.

The restaurant offers French cuisine, local specialities and simple, good old fashioned meals.

The menu is regularly adjusted to use the finest fresh seasonal ingredients. You can choose a light snack, a daily special or select one of the typical Dutch dishes available. There is also a variety of kids’ dishes for little guests. Staff will try to serve your dinner as fast as possible, without losing track of the high standards you would expect in a 4-star hotel.

Since our hotel bar is partly separated from the restaurant, it gives the feeling of being in a small pub. From 11:00 till 01:00, the bartender will be more than pleased to serve a wide variety of drinks. However, you can also choose to enjoy a drink in the relaxing lounge, which is equipped with comfortable chairs and a reading table.

The hotel's atmosphere is informal and cosy, which is frequently considered to be typical of the Frisian area. This will be reflected not only in the staff’s behaviour, but also in the decoration.

In the direct surroundings of the hotel you will find an indoor swimming pool, tennis and squash courts, a fitness centre and a sauna. The historical city centre is located only 800 metres from the hotel. Friesland is an unique part of the Netherlands with water, wind and sailing, with a rich history and its own language.

By Car (from Amsterdam):
- Take the A10 motorway and follow the signs for Leeuwarden. You will be directed over the A8, A7 and N31 motorways.
- On the N31 motorway (junction Zurich) follow the signs for Harlingen / Franeker and take exit 20 for Franeker.
- At the end of this exit, turn right onto the Hertog van Saxenlaan.
- On the 1st roundabout, turn left and the hotel will be on you right.

Directions from Zwolle:
- Take the A28 motorway and follow the signs for Assen. You will be directed over the A32 motorway and then follow the signs for Meppel. You will be directed over the N31 highway.
- Take exit 22 for Marssum and follow the signs for Harlingen.
- Take exit 20 for Franeker.
- Follow directions as above.

If cancelled up to 1 day before the date of arrival, no fee will be charged.
If cancelled later or in case of no-show, the first night will be charged.

All children under 3 years stay free of charge when using existing bedding.
All children under 2 years stay free of charge for cots.
All older children or adults are charged EUR 14.50 per night and person for extra beds.
Maximum capacity of extra beds/babycots in a room is 2.
