Originating in 1334 as a tavern for the Benedictine monks of Nonnberg Monastery, it has been in the Gmachl family since 1583. The family has owned it for 23 generations - the oldest family business in Austria.
Today the Gmachl is a 4-star-hotel with attractive rooms and comfortable restaurant rooms that have kept the charming athmosphere of the old country inn.
The further amenities of the house inlcude a wellness area with sauna, steam bath, infra-red cabin and mist grotto. Massages, a fitness room, a heated outdoor pool with sunbathing area and tennis courts complete the offer.

The international Restaurant Guide Gault Millau has awarded Gmachl as a 'Haubenrestaurant' with 14 points.
The cuisine is specialized on local dishes at high quality levels. This is supported by our own butchery and agriculture.

12.00 until 14.00 and from 18.00 until 22.00
During the Salzburg Festivals
permanent from 11.00 until 24.00.
The Trumer lake area with the Obertrumer lake, the Matt lake and the Graben lake are only 10 minutes away by car. They are ideal to go swimming, hiking or for a boat tour.
You are coming from the A1 motorway and leave at "Salzburg Nord". The "Nord-Exit" splits into directions "Zentrum" and "Trumer Seengebiet", you take the direction "Trumer Seengebiet". Once you are on the main road 156 you go on about 4 km. Next to the church, right in the center of Elixhausen you find the Romantik Hotel Gmachl
Pets cost EUR 8 per night.
Cancellation
If cancelled up to 7 days before date of arrival, no fee will be charged.
If cancelled later or in case of no-show, the total price of the reservation will be charged.
Children up to 6 years stay free of charge in a room with adults. Children from 6 to 10 years pay EUR 40 to EUR 58 (2007) for an extra bed.
