Set back above the beach at Shanklin is the Melbourne Ardenlea Hotel, next to the beautiful wooded 'Chine' Valley and thatched old village. The rooms are spacious, many recently refurbished with new bathrooms and soft fabrics. A number of rooms enjoy partial sea views and each room is furnished to a high standard, with every amenity available for a relaxed and comfortable stay. A lift accesses most floors as well as 3 ground floor rooms and a disabled bedroom.

The Melbourne Ardenlea is situated in an ideal location for guests to explore the island's many attractions. You will never be short of things to do in and around Shanklin, you could explore the pretty thatched old villages, the Chine Valley and the beach, situated just below the hotel. There are many places to visit further a field such as the zoo at Sandown or the Roman Villa at Brading. You could take a trip to Cowes where you can find the beautiful Osborne House, which was once Queen Victoria's favourite country home. The Isle of Wight hosts Cowes sailing week once a year, making it the ideal place for sailing. Alternatively you could simply enjoy the Isle of Wight's beautiful scenery from its 800 km (500 miles) of footpaths, bridle ways and cycle routes.
By Car:
- From Ryde, take the A3055 via Sandown to Shanklin.
- In Shanklin follow signs A3055 Ventnor (cliff lift and beach).
- The hotel is approximately 450 metres on the right.
By Rail (from Station Shanklin, Isle of Wight)
You can purchase a through ticket to include Wightlink passenger ferry which departs Portsmouth Harbour Station. The ferry connects with the Island line railway to take you to Shanklin Station. The hotel is 5 minutes by taxi from here.
A minimum 2-night stay is required during the summer holidays.
There is no extra bed available for children and adults from the age of 15 and onwards.
Cancellation policy
Reservations must be cancelled 2 days in advance of your arrival date.
In the event of a no show or a cancellation in breach of this policy, an amount equivalent to one night average cost of accommodation will be charged.
